ZipTips When pressing wrinkled fabric before cutting pieces for a quilt, let the iron linger, i.e., press very very, slowly, so that the heat will be absorbed into the fabric. This will result in a decreased amount of pressing. When cutting more than one thickness of fabric, iron the layers of fabric together so that they sort of adhere to each other . . . for ease in accurate cutting. Words of Wisdom ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ "Beautiful things appeal to the emotions and create a sort of mental state of quiet and spiritual goodness . . . [T]he quilt . . . has its high and low color tones . . . all carrying the eye through a design composition." Rose G. Kretsinger in The Romance of the Patchwork Quilt in America, 1935 "It's good to remember that you can't make anything without making a mess." Sally C. Crisp, EdD "I'm really, really tired and I don't want to think about anything in the world." Margaret A. Hoskins, PhD "Peculiar fabrics are like the blue notes in jazz, the splash of unexpected color in a painting, the red hat in a photograph that catches your eye and anchors the whole composition." Pamela Rocco in "Quilters Newsletter Magazine "I want to be a Master Quilter when I grow up!" Rebecca Foster "There are no rules, no color schemes, and I don't do a piece that matches the furniture. But if it does, that's a bonus!" John Foster "I'll see you around.........if you don't get square!" Tommy McMenamin "However much you change through the years, your mate is one of the few who has a mental image of the person you once were. He keeps your history in his heart, giving you easy access to your old self." Judith Sills "You will improve just by the doing." Diane Gaudynski "Do what you can with what you have where you are." Theodore Roosevelt "Many students struggle between striving for accuracy and focusing on creativity. Being creative is so much more rewarding." Patty Jensen Kennedy in "Quilters Newsletter Magazine" "Have no fear of perfection; you'll never reach it." Salvador Dali "There is nothing like staying home for real comfort."
